FUNERAL SERVICE

Larry Stockett's Funeral service was held at 2 PM on Sunday, Sep 16, 2012 at Benson Memorial Methodist Church in Raleigh, N.C. The memorial Service was preceeded by one (1) hour of visitation in the fellowship hall. Kay Stockett stood proudly at the head of the receiving line and the line was backed up outside. it was very obvious that Larry had become a very popular and well liked person, and after reading his obituary it is easy to see why. I would estimate that between 300 and 350 people attended the service.

Four different pastors handled the Memorial Service to include the Eulogies which were quite extensive. They included Larry's many accomplishments as well as a few humorous items. There were many references to our 1955 Class. Larry's activities at West Point were covered to include being a Mule Rider and manager of several team sports.

1955 Classmates attending were Don Andrews, Bill Burrus, and Bill McCulla. Don Andrews and Bill Burrus served as Honorary Paul Bearers.

The Order of the service can be seen on the funeral program. The Hymns were very appropriate and included "How Great Thou Art", "Hymn of Promise", and" Lift High the Cross".

The Honor Guard was very sharp, and did a superb job of removing the casket from the church to the hearse. The Honor Guard folded the flag and presented it to Kay in a manner Larry would have been Proud. The Firing Squad and TAPS also were performed in a superb manner.

In summary, our 1955 Class can be very proud of Larry Stockett. He lived and performed in every way according to our West Point Creed of DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY.

Bill Burrus
