The funeral was attended by approximately 400, the music was provided by a choir of about 50, and the Alma Mater was sung a cappella. Seven members of the Birmingham WP Society (including classmates Michalove and Haas) served as honorary pall bearers. The service was extremely well done and decidedly a tribute to John. A Fort Rucker detachment was at the interment. They executed the honors will grace and precision.

No more reveille, no more calls, no more area, no more crying at the boards, and no more extra instruction. You were special because you were forged in a crucible that made us all a special kind of steel. We will meet again my brother.
