The last time I saw Chuck was when we graduated from Primary at Malden AB in Swampeast Missouri. We were in the same group that harassed our flight instructor to the limit. Chuck always had a wild, hilarious story to tell, the best one on himself. On a Friday foggy night coming back from Poplar Bluff he missed a turn, had an accident, was thrown from his convertible and was knocked out. When he regained his senses he looked through the floating mist towards the road and saw blue flashing lights, a bunch of cars, and alot of people. He wondered what was happening and walked to them through the field and over a barbed wire fence. He got the feeling that he was dead. He asked what happened and found that they were looking for the driver. Ha! He was alive. He hitched a ride back to the base and was up and at 'em on Monday morn. Chuck embellished the story quite a bit--many laughs. That wide smile and his humor made many a day brighter. Wish he was here to do it again.
