He was my friend and helpmate at West Point and in service. He was always willing to pick you up and make your day a little brighter. There's a tear right now, Mike. Al Parker October 18, 2005) I met Mike though my good friend Leo Hergenroeder about a year ago at the local monthly Beltway Luncheons. Mike was a regular, always appearing with Leo who connected me with the luncheons and the class net. I certainly enjoyed meeting Mike and chatting with him each month. He was always friendly and upbeat in spite of his illness and never complained or spoke of it unless asked. I will always remember him as I last saw him having a good time at JRs Steakhouse. Rest in Peace Mike. Jack Jack McAuslan October 19, 2005) I knew Mike from our South Area cadet days, but lost our occasional greetings as cadets when we graduated. I pleased when I learned about family members being in Indiana, PA area and an auto repair business that Mike helped finance in the 80's. Because I was teaching in the IUP College of Business I tried to pass on some info and contacts that might help. I don't think they did but I remember Mike was always so positive about making something happen that he always made me feel good about what I had done. I also remember his tough love of family and abiding faith in God that there was reason for good and bad things happening; that we could try very hard (do your best) to make positive outcomes. I remember some sharing of how to make lemonade out lemons in helping our off spring have a good life. He was a pushover for little girls in his life and I know he derived great pleasure from them. I saw him a few times and he never talked about his difficulties. His love of country and having served was apparent. Grip Hands. Love and prayers to his family. Bill Robinson Co I-1, class '55 October 20, 2005) I am so happy that we were able to see Mike at the 50th and take his picture to deliver to his Illinois relatives. He was a great classmate, a fine officer, and an admirable family man. He will be missed! Be at peace Mike, and Carry on... Jack Jack Campbell December 14, 2005) Mike Malooley was a great friend and a favorite person because he was so open and outgoing. He made me think his hometown of Terra Haute was a special place. I'll never forget him and he will always be in my prayers. Mike Stevenson December 14, 2005) God bless you Mike ... a warm friend and great Army Officer. We will miss you at our monthly Washington DC luncheons ... hope there is a place like JR Stockyards in Heaven so you can order your usual. Here's to you Mike ... we all loved you Dottie and Al Spaulding December 14, 2005) Back in the beginning when we were plebes together Mike was one of the older guys I looked up to. We were in the same New Cadet Company...the shortest and the best. And he ended up around the corner from our Company in South Area. Still we saw alot of each other over the Cadet years. Then like so many Classmates we parted company at graduation only to be reunited after retirement in the DC area at our monthly luncheons. There they were Frick and Frack...Malooley and Hergenroder, two of the regulars. In spite of all his troubles at the end Mike was always upbeat. Thats why his passing came as a shock to all of us. He rests now in the hallowed ground of Heros in Arlington. Farewell Mike. See you on the other side. Tommy:) Tommy West December 21, 2005) |
