Today Joy and I received a Christmas letter from John Clayton's wife, Joan, telling us of his death last January. I've attached a copy of the obit she sent in the letter. Apparently last December he had a stent placement procedure which was unsuccessful, followed by by-pass surgery at the end of the month. He had post-surgery complications which kept him in Cardiac ICU for 4 weeks before he finally gave it up. He died January 25, 2008. They have three fine sons, John jr, Mark and Bruce who, with their families, stood by Joan during the ordeal. Joy and I were living in the Atlanta area 2002)-2006 and saw John and Joan occasionally, but hadn't corresponded since our move to Cocoa, Fl. in (JAN 07. It was a shock to get this information in a letter almost a year after the fact. A second shock when I looked on West-Point.org and found his death unreported. It's certainly too late for flowers...
