Sad, shocking news. Billy Chance B1 made it through his back surgery on Sept.5, came home but had somewhere picked up a bacteria in his colon. Unbelieveably fast it took over and antibiotics killed what good bacteria were left and his colon was destroying rest of his body. Kidneys had shut down. Choices were to remove the entire colon leaving him with a colostomy bag and dialysis. His heart stopped twice so was on ventilator. The whole family knows that Bill would never want to live a life like that and at that time probably would not have withstood the surgery. We chose to turn off everything and he passed quietly on Sept.16th. Services will be in Mount Hope Methodist Church...it will shake the rafters...on Sept 20th, his 75th birthday. Our minister has been chatting with his two sons and daughter and knew Bill well so will do a fine eulogy. With lots of Billy stories. I'll think about the obit for the Assembly later. No public graveside services are planned. The family has asked that rather than sending flowers, those that so desire should contribute, in his memory, to Billy's favorite charity , the Mount Hope Volunteer Ambulance Service. I know that Fred Bliss, Dan Dienst, and I plan to be in Mount Hope to represent the Class at the services. If there are others, please let me know. Carry on... -Jack Campbell, B-1 |
