Ted Eugene Bishop was born on 16 April 1933 in Findley, Ohio. He received an appointment to West Point from the 8th Congressional District of Ohio. Ted entered West Point on 3 July 1951 He was in Company H2 and led the company to a Brigade basketball championship. His first class year, he was a Captain and Brigade Regimental Training Officer. He graduated on 7 June 1955 and was commissioned in the US Army in the Corps of Engineers.
