Even though we were both Engineers, our paths didn't cross often, but when they did we had good times. Ted was smart, clever, and a fine officer, but most of all, he was fun to be around. As years went by we went our seperate ways, but fortunately for me we reconnected this past year. We'll miss Ted and our prayers are with Nancy and the family. Keep an eye on us Ted. Carry on... Ted Eugene Bishop, 75, of Berryville, Virginia, died Sunday, October 12, 2008) in the Winchester Medical Center. Col. Bishop was born April 16, 1933) in Findlay, Ohio, the son of Fred Joseph and Velma Agnes Hartman Bishop. He was a graduate of the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 1955). He served 28 years in the U. S. Army with two tours in Vietnam. He retired as a Colonel in 1983). He was a member of Emmaus Church in Berryville where he served as elder. He was a member of the Army Corps of Engineers, American Legion Post 41 of Berryville, and F.I.S.H. He married Nancy Emma VanStronder on June 26, 1955) in Findlay, Ohio. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Cynthia Ingels of Purcellville, VA and Pamela Ingram of Leesburg, VA; and four grandchildren, Kaia and Anika Henriksen and Jeffrey and Conner Ingram. Two brothers, Donald Bishop and Harold Bishop, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, October 18, 2008) at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel in Berryville with Rev. David Harper and Pastor Mike Dean officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Ingram, Dave Ingels, Doug Hackworth, Bill Veilleux, Dave Pelleman, and Mike Dowling. Military honors will be provided by Winchester V.F.W. Post 2123 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 A. M. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions (MAY be made to F. I. S. (OCT 18th. beginning at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville, Va. Nancy with her 2 daughters and their families attended. Viewing was from 10 AM with a memorial service at 11 AM. The service was officiated by a long time minister friend from Fairfax and a local minister. Both spoke of Ted's long time church service, his close association with many programs and the leadership he provided to the church. Four local family friends spoke of Ted's devotion to his family and to his God, as well as his active involvement in church and community activities. "Pop" Warner, Ted's best man at his marriage to Nancy, spoke on behalf of the class and company H-2. Others would have spoken but were curtailed due to the length of the service. 2. Final resting place for Ted is at the Mount Hebron Cemetery. Military Honor's were provided by the Winchester V.F.W. Post 2123 honor guard. The cemetery pre-dates the Civil War and is the final resting place for many deceased from that war as well as veterans from other US wars. 3. Following the interment the group went to a nearby Hampton Inn for a buffet lunch and the opportunity to visit with Nancy and her family as well as other attendees. 4. All attendees at this final tribute for Ted numbered between 150 and 200 people. Classmates attending were: Norm and Barbara Blahuta, Jack Doyle, Chuck and Barbara Ewing, Ted Gay, Jerry Hagan, Ray Karam, Mac and Marge McIlroy, Carl McNair, John and Mary Pickitt, Chuck Roades, Matt and Betty Schepps, John and Ruth Sloan, Bob and Pat Strati, Morris "Pop" Warner, Dick and Sally Wargowsky, and Tom Weaver, and Tom West. 5.
