Michael Clay Hepler was born on 26 February 1930 in Washington. He was appointed to West Point from the 4th Congressional district of Washington and entered on 3 July 1951. He was in Company C 1 and turned back on 6 June 1952 for deficiency in English to the Class of 1956 and resigned on 22 July 1953.
