Going by memory and rumors: Robert T. Dale was from Minnesota, and assigned to M-2 after being in 1st company during Beast Barracks. His parents had obtained his appointment but Bob didn't want to stay. He was not allowed to resign because resignation required his parents permission. He therefore endeavored to be found on demerits. His culminating act of defiance was after a parade in the fall of 1951. He was being chewed out in North Area by a Firstie, maybe David Ahearn, (deceased), and took a swing at him with his rifle butt. That resulted in formal charges of assault and an impending Court Martial. That did it. His parents let him resign. I have no idea what happened to him in his civilian life.
