Rawleigh Hazen Ralls III

Rawleigh Hazen Ralls III was born on 14 December 1932 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was appointed to West Point by Senator Kerr of Oklahoma and entered on 3 July 1951. He was in Company E1, ran cross country for four years and track for three years. He graduated on 7 June and was commissioned in the US Army in the Field Artillery.

Rawleigh Hazen Ralls III

Rawleigh Hazen Ralls III was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on December 14, 1932 to Rawleigh and Rosemary Ralls. In 1949, he graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute. After two years at the Virginia Military Institute, he obtained an appointment to the United States Military Academy from Senator Robert S. Kerr and entered with the Class of 1955. In June 1955, he graduated with a commission in the Artillery branch of the Regular Army.

In 1955, he married Anne Singer, the sister of his roommate, Earl Singer. They were the parents of three children. In 1974 they divorced and in 1975 he married Barbara Yates. They were the parents of two children. In April 1987 they divorced and in May 1988 he married Rebecca Moore. They had no children.

His Artillery assignments included Fort Sill and Fort Jackson. He attended the Naval Post Graduate School (NPGS), where he earned a Master of Science degree in operations research with his thesis, Decision Making and the Military Estimate of the Situation. He spent two years at Headquarters, Army Combat Development Command at Fort Belvoir and two years in the Office of the Chief of Staff, United States Army.

He retired in 1968. In civilian life he became Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 1971, he earned a Ph.D. in business administration in economics and organization from George Washington University. His doctoral thesis was titled, Time Series Analysis of the Nature of the Demand for Life Insurance. He left the University of Arkansas in 1975 to found his own firm, Attorney’s Economic Consultants. In 1990, he retired. He was listed as an expert economist by The Defense Research Institute and the National Forensic Center, where he served on the National Panel of Advisors. He was a listed expert economist and lecturer with the American Trial Lawyers Association. He also conducted educational programs for the Arkansas Bar Association, the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association and other legal organizations. He died on July 30, 1991 in Little Rock, Arkansas and was interred at West Point.
